About Burn Beautifully
Why this work exists — and what led to ts creation
Burn Beautifully didn’t begin with a plan. It began with exhaustion — and not the kind sleep fixes.
The kind that comes from carrying too much for too long… roles, expectations (my own, and those of others), and identities that once made sense but slowly stopped fitting.
In the span of eight months, I lost my nine-year-old Bichon, Luci. We moved into a new home that was then damaged by back-to-back hurricanes. We were displaced. We rebuilt. And then I lost my job.
What I didn’t realize at first was that somewhere along the way, I’d also lost myself.

What I didn’t realize at first was that somewhere along the way, I’d also lost myself.
When the structures holding my life together fell away, I came face-to-face with something deeper: Midlife burnout. Identity loss.
And the quiet disorientation that comes when the life you built no longer feels like home.
Burn Beautifully was born there. In the midst of the fire.
Transformation doesn’t ask for permission.
Midlife Burnout and Identity Loss
Women don’t talk honestly about this season. About what it feels like to experience identity loss in midlife. To feel invisible in a culture obsessed with youth.
To be capable and accomplished… and quietly exhausted.
To question your ambition. To feel your nervous system fraying. To wonder why you feel lost when, on paper, everything looks fine.
This isn’t a crisis. It’s a transition.
And yet there is very little community for women navigating midlife burnout or reinvention after 50.

We are in the in-between. But we are often alone.
Women in Transition
So many women in transition walk around believing something is wrong with them. Just them. When in reality, something truer is trying to emerge.
Our bodies are changing. Our priorities are shifting. Our tolerance for performance is shrinking.

We don’t want to hustle our way back to who we were.
We want to understand who we are now.
All throughout life, we talked to each other about getting our first periods. We shared about infertility and pregnancy.

We commiserated about life’s ups and downs. But women rarely talk honestly about this season of life. About what it’s like to be in your fifties…or honestly, any age where life begins steering you toward transformation.
We suffer in isolation – trying to maintain the pretense that everything is fine.

Burn Beautifully exists to create space for that conversation.
Who I Am
My name is Ami DeWille.
I’m a writer and brand builder navigating midlife burnout, grief, identity loss, and reinvention in real time.
I don’t have the answers. I’m not on the other side of this. I’m not interested in pretending that I am. This work is not about fixing women. It’s about naming what hurts. Honoring what’s ending.

It’s allowing reinvention after 50 to unfold without shame. And not having to go through it alone if you don’t want to. My reinvention may look very different from yours, but the emotions beneath midlife reinvention are the same.
I don’t proclaim to have the answers. There is no five-step program for personal transformation, but I do believe there’s power in naming what’s true and letting the fire do what it does best…reveal what’s real.

An Invitation
If you’re here because something feels off…If you’ve outgrown the version of success you once chased…If the life you built no longer feels like home…If you feel invisible, exhausted, or quietly ready to start over…
You’re not broken. You’re in transition. And you’re welcome here.
This is still becoming.
